About Me

I’m Garnett James, a Game Design student from New York currently living in the Bay Area. I study at Academy of Art University, with a passion for level design and creating engaging, player-focused experiences. I’m especially drawn to fantasy and adventure games, where strong worldbuilding, exploration, and thoughtful level layouts come together to guide how players move, feel, and interact with a space.

My design process centers on player flow, spatial storytelling, and iteration. I enjoy breaking down what makes levels fun and memorable, then applying those principles through hands-on development using tools like Unity, Unreal Engine, and Adobe Creative Suite. Whether I’m designing combat spaces, exploration paths, or UI elements, I focus on clarity, balance, and intentional design decisions.

I’m currently building my portfolio through academic and personal projects while continuing to refine my technical and creative skills. My goal is to work in the game industry as a level designer, contributing to immersive worlds that encourage curiosity, challenge, and fun.
